Ashwine has the ability of pyrokinesis, the power to shapeshift into anything he desires with his external fire body.
He has a secret second ability named Hibernate, allowing for his flames to change form depending on his environment.
Ashwine's journey is reflected in the evolution of his flames, each transformation representing a stage in his character development. Before imprisonment, he adopted solar flames of bright orange given by the High Party showing his birth.
After being imprisoned in ice under the North Porth by Malvorr, he emerges when the cosmic energy surges, waking with white flames that symbolises his innocence and his loss of power. As he massacres people in Yemen and Estonia, his flames absorb the desert sand and turn golden, symbolising his growing corruption and hunger for power through violence. His final evolution into black "devil's flame" after resting in Tutankhamun's tomb represents his complete moral degradation, gaining "the flames of Anubis" and reaching the pinnacle of his destructive potential.
He is defeated when Cindi scatters her body under Samuel's rule of unable to reform again. Samir finished him off by scattering his body across the world. The irony of his defeat is that while his flames grew more powerful with each transformation, his inability to understand the strength of human bonds remained his fatal weakness.
Ashwine embodies arrogance and cruelty, viewing humans with utter contempt and taking pleasure in causing destruction. He sees human connections as fundamental weaknesses, regularly dismissing the value of relationships and teamwork with scornful remarks. Despite his immense power and ability to transform his flames from white to golden to black "devil's flame," he remains overconfident to a fault. This hubris manifests in his dismissive attitude toward the three zodiac users until it's too late, never considering that their combined strength could possibly defeat him. His contempt for human interdependence ironically foreshadows his ultimate fate.
