The Suppression Arc explores Star’s traumatic origin, the loss of identity, and the ethical battle between control and freedom.
“As the Void Gently Weeps” is the first part of Star Sun’s arc. Star is a reclusive boy unknowingly born with cosmic abilities after being injected with the Avidrene serum, becoming a hybrid like Elias. Following the events of the Possession Arc, Star pays little attention to the recent tragedies that struck his classmates like Hazel and Jun. While Star is the smartest at school, he struggles with his unstable and unknown powers.
Through these unrecognised and uncontrolled abilities of his, Star accidentally harms bystanders through uncontrolled ultraviolet radiation where a classmate of his Milo Trueno, figures that he might have caused his parents’ health issues. After volunteering for the ISID’s experimental testing program, granting him electricity-based powers. He takes on the codename Malstrom and is tasked to monitor and if necessary, eliminate Star. During a chaotic encounter, Milo is killed by Sadana on complete accident. As Sadana sacrifices himself to end his miserable life, Star is left broken and overwhelmed, soaring alone into the sky in search of answers.
“The Sky That Calls” continues Star’s journey, revealing the truth behind his powers. As a child, he was fatally ill until his father, Skye Sun, saved him using the alien blood of an Avidrene. This alien symbiote rewrote his biology, making Star a cosmic hybrid as stated before. Now, the biotech group Anateros, under the guise of helping third-world nations, secretly plans to harness this power to rival ISID. Barton Colerico aids Taiwan with his technology, offering a chance of freedom by fighting against the controlling force of the CCP. Skye who works for Anateros as a scientist, helps develop new technology as he clones the Avidrene serum and creates a hypnosis rifle. While Star is extremely happy to see his father again, he is ultimately seduced into their care, only to be manipulated by Skye and prepped for weaponisation.
A brutal battle between the two organisations rises when the ISID invades Anateros in Taiwan, hoping to take action before it is too late. When Star is injected with a mind-controlling serum, he loses himself. Elias helps Star regain control, not through dominance, but through compassion. Star realises that mastering his abilities is not about eradicating emotion but embracing it.
